A Bookcase with an attitude
From the mind of German born designer Ricardo Marçal, comes the envy of all other bookcases.
The nest rotative bookshelf is the living proof that bookcases can be interesting pieces of design furniture. Featuring plenty of storage, the nest uses irregular geometric patterns to create a visual effect that varies according to its content.

The Prairie Living room
Leather, wood and metal. These were the elements in the head of designer Inês Martinho when laying the ground work for the prairie living room. The prairie line of sofas sport modern geometric lines with sober, smooth finishes and were designed to be an instant classic, making it the centerpiece of any living space.

A German affair

A workspace that works, your way.
The flexibility of the Atlas system deliver the perfect solution for a self-contained functional workspace. For starters, you can combine a multitude of accessories to make your very own workstation. You can add and remove drawer units, glass doors and different length shelves among other things. If you're the one who's going to work on it, you should have it your way.

The Pombal system
The very best reading space or personal library is definitely the one you can design it yourself. The Pombal shelving system and its wealth of accessories gives a new meaning to the "Shelving unit" denomination.

Reinventing the wheel...
Maybe not the wheel, but certainly the bookcase! The SHELL rotating unit was designed by Ricardo Marçal to literally delivery a "spin" to the Aurora Bedroom collection. This cool piece adds additional storage and a hint of sophistication to any space.

Workshop Living
In last September me and Telma went to a very cute town in Norway, Stavanger! The propose of our journey was to visit one of our customers Living, and with them create a temahome concept for their stores.
The result was great! Now all the products are in the stores and they are working very well.
This is a proof that when people work together they produce better solutions, because it takes two to tango :) !

Now that's a bedroom I want to sleep on!
A collection of inspirational pieces that have a pure design pedigree and combine strong aesthetics with essential practicality. That's the Aurora bedroom collection. Its smooth modern lines serve urban spaces well but also match larger rooms with the addition of complementary elemets such as the shell rotative shelving. It's glossy finishing reflects the light creating a bright bedroom whenever the sun shines through the window. Now that's a bedroom to sleep on!

From the school of cool...
Another one from the mind of Filipe Alarcão. The glare chair with is aerodynamic design comes to life in a shiny high gloss white finish bringing the latest trend in glossy pieces to a new level.
This chair has a profile appealing enough to stand alone as a design accent but also fits beautifully in sets populating the modern dining room.

The art of discovering new talents
The entries are in! The “Living your dreams” national design contest sponsored by TemaHome and the Portuguese Center for Design (http://www.cpd.pt/) received over 90 entries. A panel of judges will choose the top project among the submissions and the winner will receive a trip to the “100% design” in London and an internship at TemaHome to develop the winning project.
Good luck and may the best designer win!

Space‚ the first frontier.
Physical, virtual or emotional, it is one of the most valuable aspects of our daily life.
From the morning traffic jam to the enclosure of our work cubicle to the precious capacity of our computer’s hard drive, isn’t is true that everything is related to space?
The lack of it causes us to react, evolve, or adapt dimensionally in different ways. Therefore the objects and products we use need to be versatile and multifunctional.

The lack of it causes us to react, evolve, or adapt dimensionally in different ways. Therefore the objects and products we use need to be versatile and multifunctional.
It was a challenge to develop a modular system where the space available could be adapted to meet the end user’s needs.
Consisting of interchangeable floor and wall-mounted modules, the system that was developed consists of modules that are easily adaptable to the available space, and can be customized with either a drop-down door or a generously-sized drawer.
For the wall, a single module can be mounted either horizontally or vertically and used in opposite ways by either applying a drop-down door or a pull-up one.
On the floor, modules can be placed side by side according to the user’s desire, creating a system where the thick exposed base, available in natural walnut veneer or in lacquered high gloss black or white, serves as a strong identifying element.
Different compositions can be made, maintaining the same minimal visual aspect, with the door and drawers providing both versatility and function.
For me, the flexibility and functionality of the Prairie system means that it does not have to be confined to just the living room area.

It’s up to the end user to reveal its full potential component by component, creating a unique set.
We are currently developing new modules and components for this system, such as smoked-glass or fabric doors for AV/Hi Fi equipment, which we are planning to add soon.

The French revolution - part II
Success attracts success. We've just made a sales agreement with CAMIF, the main player in the French furniture market. The Multi tables, Denso Shelving, Shell and Ivy will be the feature products in the French retailer, complemented by the Tokyo, Kyoto and Glaciar coffee tables.
Vive la France!

Time will show...
So, we’re getting deeper. Deeper into the design world and deeper into the web with this new blog. This is something we had been thinking about for a while, but never came round to do it. Now we did! So let’s get into the action now...
My personal reflection after almost two years at TemaHome is that we have increasingly an excellent team, doing the right things for the long term of the company. I cannot imagine what would happen if we did not focus on design, on promoting our brand and lifestyle, on building our purchasing and quality and environmental assurance teams, on giving more and more training to all our staff, and so many other initiatives we have going on - the future of the company would be compromised.
Having said that, we need to take care of the short term and the shortcomings we still have, and confidently face this defying market. I believe we are on the right path, even if it is not easy and obvious. We are doing the right things and it will pay off for us, our customers and our partners - time will show.
Stephan
