Celebrating 3 years of Portuguese design

The Santos Design District (or SDD) is the epicentre of design in Portugal. From the most creative schools in the country to well appointed contemporary shops, this neighbourhood features the elite of the design both international and Portuguese. A stroll among the streets of this area will bring you up to speed with the latest and the trendiest tendencies in Europe and it is not unheard of to see the likes of Stefano Gabbana and company shopping around. Established by some of the most important design retailers in the country, the SDD association was founded in December 2005, and quickly gained the support of the local authorities and strategic partners to transform the area into the Portuguese destination for everything related to design. As one of the most respected contemporary design stores in the country, “Paris-Sete” is a reference in the area, representing some of the worlds best brands like Vitra, B&B Italia, USM and Flos.

It is my pleasure to announce that for the celebration of the 3rd anniversary of SDD, “Paris-Sete” will host an exhibition of Vitra and TemaHome designs. In association with Filipe Alarcão, we have designed a custom line of products to be featured together with Vitra at Paris-Sete and the 6th of December we would be delighted to have you for the premiere early evening cocktail. Once again, our commitment to the excellence of Portuguese design is second only to our drive to do better every day.

Low profile style

The Slate center table is an ode to minimalistic design. It´s simple design was conceived with the idea of creating a different effect at every angle you look.
And it does the job very well. It´s differentiated profiles reflect light differently and generate a collection of shades for the right atmosphere whatever your taste is. The glossy finish makes for very elegant refined reflections of other elements in the room.

A wall system just the way you want!

Designed by Inês Martinho, Panorama is the result of a project focusing in a new kind of wall units. The first challenge was to create an accessory that could work both as a media storage and as a decorative accent. Then, as a consequence of our growing connection with final consumers, we set out to create a product that is pre-assembled and can be added to any living space with very little effort. We accomplished that by making a pre-drilled support that once installed, holds the unit in the wall.Taking into consideration the creative culture of our clients, we added a degree of customization by adjusting the dimensions in a way that allows the conjugation of more units sideways or upwards/ downwards. Panorama is our answer to your creative need of having a wall unit just like want to.

What were you doing in 1981?

The year was 1981 when the world watch Lady Dis "I do" to Prince Charles, the first Indiana Jones movie hit the big screen and MTV went on air for its very first broadcast to change an entire generation. That was also the year Norwegians and Portuguese came together to found the "Portuguese Norema", the marriage of Scandinavian technology and Iberian efficiency.
From that point on, the company produced furniture to some of the largest retailers in the world becoming an industrial reference as the largest exporter of furniture in Portugal.

In 2006, under the control of an all-Portuguese management and ownership, the TemaHome concept was born. The slogan "Living your dreams" was established to express our desire to provide our customers with a differentiated lifestyle as unique as you are. At that point TemaHome turned to the creative mind of renowned Portuguese designer Filipe Alarcão, to lead a handpicked group of young designers into the creation of design-oriented collections.

Today TemaHome offers three distinctive lines of products ranging from everyday modern solutions on the Essence collection, through the refined detail oriented Style collection to the exclusive designs of the Trends collection. From large retail stores to the most discriminating of the fashion design boutique, our products can be found in over 1300 shops in some 40 Countries around the globe.

We cater to the individual who enjoys even the smallest details in life and is not afraid to create living spaces reflecting that personality. Our designers concentrated in undeniable fact people and their needs are different are therefore deliver products with a freedom of concept and possibilities not found in many aspects of everyday life.

Tropic

The Tropic table is yet another proof that very few mixes can match the effects of metal and wood combined in harmony. The Tropic table can be used as a sophisticated home office or workspace desk and while the feet are affixed to the table top, it never misses the effect of being loose giving an edge somewhat industrial-urban look.

ATLAS mania

You may have seem before some of the most common Atlas configurations posted in here, but I just found this one and thought that it really brings out the idea of custom configuration. Playing with the different heights and sizes of shelving and sides was something that haven't occurred to me before. It's a whole new way to look at this system. The lack of accessories certainly brings the concept back to basics.
